Bird Book Sculpture

So I had an idea for an installation I want to do outside of an old mansion in the village I live in. The idea was an opened book with little paper birds flying out of it. I plan on blu tacking them on the mansion walls. 

These are the birds I made out of an old book and patterned craft paper.

Bits and pieces of book pages and left over craft paper.

I love working with paper and creating cute things.

This is a draft of what I'm going to set up in my installation.

So I'm going to use the birds and book for an installation probably next to an old mansion in my village. When I'm done I'm going to post the pictures here :). Also I'm planning on taking some photos with books in nature.

The Dark Beneath

This is a book sculpture I made in style of Brian Dettmer.

 If you notice there is an old photo of woods on the back (below the words) which I thought would be nice as the title of the book I used is The Dark Beneath and its cover is a girl running through woods.

This is a close up of the opened book. I chose words like wondered, explanation, hurt, bloody, purpose etc. because those sort of words make you feel something.

The photo in the back was taken by my Granddad. 

This last photo reminded me of one I saw on Brian Dettmers site.

Brian Dettmer - Book Sculpture

Brian Dettmer is my next artist as I want to look at book sculpture and make some installations. 

His sculptures are very precise and detailed. You can find more examples of his work here.  

Oliver Jeffers - sketch book work

These are my first artist pages. I chose Oliver Jeffers as I love his collaged backgrounds. I made some illustrations by scanning in papers I found and made.

Tom the Book - My Obsession Day

We were supposed to spend a day obsessing with our project theme. I has a really cool idea. Because my obsession is books I made my day into a little story about my best friend Tom the Book. I actually spend the whole day with him pretending he's my best friend. Here are the pictures. 

This is my best friend Tom.

He loves martini! 

Especially the Book martini! 

The loves to sit in the front seat!

But even more, he loves to sit on my lap. 

I take him for a walk everyday. Although he hates the leash.

And he refuses to go with me until I take the leash off!

And when I do... He destroys my mums flowers!

He loves the garden swing (Thats how I get him out of the flowers!).

He always just sits there and watches the birds.

I wish he was that quiet at home too! He always plays games!

His favorite game is hide and seek.

He hides at strange places!

AND he thinks he's a BOOK!

We both love book baths!ut he can't get wet :( so he just keeps me company, 

We always count how many book squares there are!

He always wanted to be a girl! So i make him a book wig!
